Commemorating the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW 12 Rabiul Awal 2443 H

“The birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW is still 12 Rabiul Awal, but the commemoration day which was originally a national holiday is October 19, 2021, has been shifted to October 20, 2021,” explained Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Kamaruddin Amin.

Prophet Muhammad SAW Birth Time

The Prophet Muhammad is believed to have been born on 12 Rabiul Awwal in the Year of the Elephant (570 AD). There are a number of other opinions regarding the time of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. In the notes of Muhammad Husain Haekal in the Life History of Muhammad (2006) there are also other opinions which state that the Prophet was born fifteen years before the elephant incident.

There are also those who say that the Prophet Muhammad was born a few days or months or years after the Year of the Elephant. Some estimate 30 years, and some estimate up to 70 years after the Year of the Elephant. While the Year of the Elephant is an event of an elephant army attack led by Abraha to destroy the Kaaba.

The Prophet’s Birthday is a special moment for Muslims to remember the Apostle because it coincides with the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
