Commemorating National Teacher’s Day 2021

Surakarta – National Teacher’s Day coincides with Teacher’s Birthday of the Indonesian Teachers Republic of Indonesia (HUT PGRI) which is every 25 November. The theme for Teacher’s Day 2021 is “Move with Heart, Restore Education.”

The theme was carried considering that the world of education is also currently struggling to provide education for the nation’s young generation in the midst of a recovery period after the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the situation began to improve with various efforts to deal with the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the world of education resumed face-to-face learning. In line with that, the theme of Teacher’s Day 2021 is “Move with Heart, Restore Education.”

Indonesian Teachers Association

The Indonesian Teachers Association (abbreviated as PGRI) is an organization in Indonesia whose members work as teachers. This organization was founded in the spirit of the struggle of indigenous teachers during the Dutch era, in 1912 under the name of the Dutch East Indies Teachers Association (PGHB). PGRI has affiliation with the ASEAN Council of Teachers. PGRI is also a member of Education International, a world teacher organization consisting of 172 countries.

PGRI’s Identity

The Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) has three organizational identities, namely: Professional Organization, and Employment.

Legal basis and National Teacher’s Day

The legal basis is enshrined in Presidential Decree Number 78 of 1994 which is a sign of respect for teacher, the government of the Republic of Indonesia, by setting PGRI’s birthday on November 25 as the National Teacher’s Day, is commemorated every year.
