Surakarta – Pre-lecture activities for new students at the Indonusa Polytechnic Surakarta on Thursday (26/08/2021), namely an Academic Seminar presented by Deputy Director I for Academic Affairs Mr. Edy Susena, M.Kom which was held online through the media zoom meeting and live streaming youtube on 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Due to the unfinished COVID-19 pandemic, the lecture system at the Indonusa Surakarta Polytechnic must be carried out online and blended learning for both new students and final students. This is done to comply with government regulations and of course to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, especially in the city of Solo.

Online learning that has been carried out since March 2020 certainly makes students feel bored, bored, and greatly reduces the enthusiasm of students in learning. Especially new students who will start active lectures in September, the number of new students who come from various outside cities and provinces such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, Riau, Jakarta, Ngawi, Magelang, etc. Of course they have never come to campus and have never met in person. directly with the lecturer who will teach them for 3 years.

This pre-lecture activity for new students, Mr. Edy Susena, M.Kom opened by encouraging and changing the mindset of new students to continue learning, as well as instilling confidence that the covid-19 pandemic will pass quickly so students must stay in school and study to prepare themselves for the future. front.

In his material, he said that Polytechnic is a university that organizes vocational education in various science and/or technology clusters and if it meets the requirements, polytechnics can provide professional education. Polytechnics focus on vocational education, meaning that it is more about preparing alumni to directly apply their expertise. Expertise can vary, can be expertise in the field of technology, economics or other fields. The existing level is the Diploma level.

Lectures on vocational campuses make students more likely to meet practical knowledge, not only during lectures on campus but also direct practice in industry, namely student internship programs. In this internship program, students not only have the opportunity to do internships at national companies, but there are also many opportunities for students to intern in international companies, as has been done in Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan, the student internship program has been implemented since the Indonusa Polytechnic of Surakarta was established in 2002.

He also ignited the enthusiasm of new students to participate in the success of the Independent Learning Campus program by implementing 8 KPIs, namely IKU 1 Graduates get a decent job, IKU2 Students get experience outside of campus, IKU 3 Lecturers do activities outside campus, IKU 4 Practitioners teach inside campus, IKU 5 Lecturers’ work is used by the community, IKU 6 Study Program in collaboration with world-class partners, IKU 7 Collaborative and participatory class, and IKU 8 Study Program with international standards.

Based on the academic seminar questionnaire given by previous new students, Mr. Edy Susena, M.Kom believes that new students for the 2021/2022 academic year will be able to succeed in the MBKM program in the future.
