Tips for Maintaining Eye Health When Lectures Online

What are some tips to keep your eyes healthy while studying online?

In order to maintain eye health and avoid the effects of tired eyes, dry eyes, or blurred vision, there are a number of ways to maintain eye health that you can follow. What is it?

1. Choose the Most Comfortable Position When Studying Online

First, you need to leave a distance of at least 40-50 cm between the screen and your eyes. Make sure the screen is right in front of your eyes so you don’t have to look down or look up. So, your body remains in a comfortable condition and eye performance remains excellent while studying online at home.

2. Setting the Screen Lighting Level

To lower the risk of unhealthy eyes from studying online, be sure to adjust the screen lighting. Make sure the lighting is not too bright or dark so that your eyes don’t get tired and it’s easier for you to see the subject matter on the screen. Glare is the biggest source of eye fatigue. If necessary, use a blue light filter on the screen to protect your eyes from exposure to blue light on your laptop or cellphone.

3. Take Your Eyes Off For a Moment

This 20-20-20 method is proven to be effective in treating eye health. Especially for those of you who spend hours in front of laptops, cellphones, and computers. This method means, every 20 minutes while studying online, try to see another object 20 meters away, for 20 seconds. This method is useful for reducing eye strain from staring at the screen for too long.

During online learning, it’s a good idea to blink your eyes regularly. Normally, humans blink 15-20 times per minute. However, the blinking frequency can decrease when you read a book, watch television, or even stare at a laptop or cellphone screen for too long. If you make a habit of blinking 15-20 times while studying online, you will avoid dry eyes and fatigue.

4. Eat Healthy Food

The next way to maintain eye health is to eat healthy and nutritious foods. Foods such as green vegetables, fresh fish, and fruits contain many nutrients that are good for maintaining a healthy body and improving eye performance. Consuming carrots regularly also helps maintain the health of your eyes. This is because carrots are loaded with beta carotene, an antioxidant that can reduce the risk of macular degeneration in the eyes.
