Celebration of Idul Fitri 1442 H

Surakarta – Eid al-Fitr celebration for Muslims seems like an obligatory thing that should not be missed. Forgiveness, sharing gifts, and making friends with relatives and colleagues are part of the celebration. However, how can we continue to carry out Takbiran celebrations and Eid Al-Fitr Prayers 1442 H during this pandemic?

The Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, published a guide for organizing the Eid Al-Fitr 1442 H Prayers during the Covid-19 Pandemic. In this circular, Eid al-Fitr prayers are still held at homes for residents who live in the orange and red zones. This guide is contained in Circular Letter No. SE 07/2021 concerning Guidelines for Organizing the Eid Al-Fitr Prayers in 1442 H / 2021 AD during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The circular also regulates the procedures for takbiran at mosques, while traveling takbir is prohibited to prevent crowds.

Guide to Eid Prayer

In areas that experience a high level of Covid-19 spread (red zone and orange zone), Eid al-Fitr prayers are carried out in their respective homes, in line with the fatwas of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and other Islamic organizations. Eid al-Fitr prayer 1 Syawal 1442 H / 2021 M can be held in mosques and fields only in areas that are declared safe from Covid-19, namely the green zone and the yellow zone based on the determination of the authorities. In the event that Eid prayers are carried out in mosques and fields, it is mandatory to observe the Covid-19 health protocol standards strictly and observe the following conditions:

  • Eid al-Fitr prayers are performed according to the harmonious prayers and Eid sermons followed by all the congregation present.
  • The congregation for the Eid prayer who is present must not exceed 50 percent of the capacity of the place to allow for maintaining the distance between the congregation and the antarshaf.
  • The Eid prayer committee is recommended to use a temperature check device in order to ensure the healthy condition of the congregation present.
  • For the elderly (elderly) or people in unhealthy condition, just recovering from illness or from traveling, it is advisable not to attend Eid prayers in mosques and fields.
  • The entire congregation should keep wearing masks during the Eid prayer and while listening to Eid sermons in the mosque and the field.
  • Eid sermon is carried out briefly while still fulfilling the pillars of the sermon, a maximum of 20 minutes.
  • The pulpit used in organizing Eid prayers at the mosque and the field should be equipped with a transparent barrier between the preacher and the congregation.
  • After the Eid prayer, the congregation returns home in an orderly manner and avoids shaking hands with physical contact.
